Long time no see ...

I'm in a constant busy state. Have too little time to do anything other than working. Doing a PhD is very demanding, this I now realized. Probably it is my own fault to stress myself so much. I never feel what I have done is good enough. It is my personality - there's always room for improvement. I don't know how others interpret it, positive or negative. Maybe it's just dialectical.

Just wanna share some links which I think are interesting. The first one is a internet TV channel, but not any channel: www.uctv.tv Check it out, it has thousands of universtity lectures covering various subject really worth watching.

Another site is www.avaaz.org They are activists petitioning the powerful for a better world and they are worth some support. So become a member and get involved !!!

And a last link for today in case you wonder how big the universe is or if you need to put your life into perspective: string theory

Eclipse and NetBeans

Comparisons have been made over and over again, and here is one. I was kind of used to Eclipse + Eclipse plugin and too lazy to try out NetBeans. But actually, why not using both? I'll try out NetBeans' UML and GUI tool tomorrow. Heard lots of compliments to them :)

Free Internet Forum Software

Today I looked into free forum software, and found these two: NextBBS @ www.nextbbs.com, and AEF @ www.anelectron.com. In case building a forum, they seem worth trying. Here is another link of several others, and a comparison on Wikipedia which may help.

Our 2009 resolutions

Well it's 1st of January 2009 and Yilin and myself have thought all evening about possible resolutions for the year to come. After some wishful thinking we decided the following:

• regular sport, at least once a week
• a more healthy diet
• search for a house or an apartment to buy
• Christophe to learn cooking if Yilin takes driving courses
  
• Christophe to watch more scientific documentaries instead of (stupid) movies
• establish a basic social network in the Netherlands (means read less, go out more) ;)
• Yilin's submission of a proposal for her Phd thesis
• Christophe's submission of a first article on the issue of sovereignty and conflicts

Ok, it seems a lot, but with some good will we believe it's achievable. Anyway, our post next year at around the same time will allow to reflect on what we achieved and what will have to be reiterated for 2010.
